Vitakraft was the originator of treat sticks for birds and small animals. Passionate about animals, the owner of Vitakraft studied their behavior, both as pets and in the wild. Through his observations, he saw that animals naturally forage for their food. So in 1975 the concept of the treat stick was developed. This product not only offered great nutrition, but also the opportunity for the pet to play with and “work” for its food. The swinging motion created as the pet works to free the seed simulates the motion of grasses, flowers or other plants that the animals feed on in the wild.

After many years of continuously improving the treat stick concept, we are proud to offer what we believe to be the best treat on the market.Every Vitakraft treat stick has a wooden core which is dipped in a calcium and mineral rich “batter”, coated with seeds and grains and then baked. This process is repeated at least three times. The result is a very long lasting, triple baked treat that is as nutritious as it is fun for your pet.When the seed is all gone, the small animals enjoy nibbling on the wooden core as well.
